SCREENCAST

So I just finished creating my first screen cast! After exploring the various options that I could use to create my own podcast or screen cast, I chose to use Jing.  Although I may have preferred to use Screenr, unfortunately I was having issues with downloading Java for some reason.

Java was so easy to use though!  Although you must download it to utilize it, it is a really simple way to create effective screen casts.  Screen casts are great for educational purposes while living in the Digital Age.  Considering there is an increasing amount of e-learning going on in the world, screen casts provide students with an opportunity to visually learn from their professors.  You can create lengthy screen casts for a full five minutes making it a tool that can be used for all types of purposes!  Along with educational uses, Jing is great to create simple tutorials to upload to YouTube for others to learn things like how to use a software or download one.  Another way screen casts bring value to digital citizens is simply by using visuals to educate digital citizens.  For example, next year when I go study in Germany I will want to keep in touch with my family (who are digital immigrants).  I can use Jing to create a tutorial on how to download and use Skype for us to keep in contact during the time that I am studying abroad.

After being introduced to Jing, I may even start creating my own tutorials on softwares I am very familiar with like Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.

I had a really fun time creating this screen cast as it was my first time doing something like this.  As you can tell, I was a bit nervous... but what is learning without taking risks right?

Now that I have created my very first screen cast, I am confident that my future ones will be even better!!!
