Throughout Week 9 of ADED 1P32, I had an opportunity to
explore a new digital learning tool known as VoiceThread. VoiceThread was a unique and fun way to comment
on various topics regarding digital rights and responsibilities. I loved the user-friendly layout for its
simplicity and easy navigation. I also enjoyed how VoiceThread has options in
regards to how you wish to comment.
These options include webcam, voice recorders, or simple text.
After using VoiceThread, I realized this is a great tool to
support my personal academic learning. It would seamlessly fit into the
collaborative section of my personal learning environment. By commenting on
topics and being able to view what other people commented, users are provided a
great way to give insight, brainstorm, and share ideas in a simple way. This tool is great for students like myself
that enjoy being able to view other people’s opinions and feelings. VoiceThread acts as a commenting centre for
students to share information.
Therefore, this collaborative digital tool could easily fit into my
personal learning environment to support group work and online group work.
I could use VoiceThread in many different ways to support my
academic work. I think that this tool
would be most beneficial when working on collaborative group work. The group can create a slideshow and members
can share information via the slides by commenting on them. Another way to use VoiceThread in a
productive and collaborative manner is for students to create a slide show to
help other students overcome challenges, ask questions, provide answers, and
share information. VoiceThread is a great
digital tool that has the power to bring students closer together in a more efficient
way than having to meet up in person.
The option of using your webcam to comment creates a very personal
environment which is great for students to experience. Another way to use VoiceThread is for
brainstorming. This is a great method
for efficient brainstorming! Brainstorming is a crucial component of successful
academic work and therefore this tool offers students an opportunity to
brainstorm in a virtual online space.
VoiceThread is a great new tool that has been introduced to
me this week. I really enjoyed learning
about it, exploring it, and using it to learn more about digital rights and
responsibilities.
